Fine Arts Gallery

Ornate door

The St. Edward's University Fine Arts Gallery serves both the university and Austin community through exhibitions of professional artists, faculty, alumni, and students, as well as sponsored lectures and other programming related to our visiting artist program.

Our goal is to offer a platform for enrichment through contemporary art, exposing the community to a wide range of artistic disciplines and practices, serving our students through direct engagement with professional artists, and offering a space and resources for professional development through student exhibitions.

Both a teaching gallery and exhibition venue, the gallery is located in the Fine Arts Center on the northwest corner of campus. Past visiting artists and guest lecturers have included Justin Favela, David Mack, Robert Hite, Linda Stein, Pato Hebert, Tulu Bayar, Jeff Schmuki + Wendy Deschene, Joe Meiser and Elise Engler.

SPRING (TBA)

The Minute Gallery began as an initiative for currently enrolled students to engage in a creative dialogue on campus by submitting work for themed exhibitions or by proposing group or solo exhibitions.

The Minute Gallery exhibition space is a small wall and shelf that is placed between office 130 and 131 in the Fine Arts Center.

In the summer of 2014 the Minute Gallery opened up an opportunity for alumni from the Visual Studies Department to submit proposals for a full scale exhibition in the Fine Arts Gallery. We continue to celebrate these juried alumni exhibitions each summer and early fall in the main gallery.

Every spring we host a student juried exhibition in the Fine Arts Gallery. This exhibition provides a setting where the university community and the public can see the depth and excellence of artwork created by students from the artistic programs at St. Edward’s University.

Current SEU students (see eligibility requirements) may submit up to three works to be juried into this annual exhibition. An off-campus juror will select the works to be included in this exhibition, as well as choose a “best in show” award, and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. Possible prizes to be announced.

Must be a current SEU student enrolled in the Fall 2023 or Spring 2023 semester. Work submitted must have been completed in 2022 or 2023.
